NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation

Service Description

Up The Creek Arm's mission is for all to have personal protection and safe gun ownership through firearms instruction, responsibility, and safety training. The best way to start this mission with new pistol owners is with our NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation. As a result of participation in this class, students will be able to: • Understand and apply the NRA rules for safe gun handling • Identify the principal parts of your pistol and the types of pistol actions, and demonstrate how they function • Identify and understand ammunition types, components, proper storage, and malfunctions • Effectively and safely clean and store a pistol • Understand and apply the fundamentals of pistol shooting • Shoot from the benchrest and standing positions • Learn about additional training opportunities This class is approximately 4 hours long and includes range time. Students will need a pistol (rentals available), 50-100 rounds of ammunition (must be manufacturer loaded, in brass casing, no hollow points; we have ammo available for an additional fee as well), and eyes/hearing protection (also available to rent). If bringing your own pistol, please also bring your owner's manual. ****To schedule this class, please call or email us. Preferred minimum class size of 4 students. Cost of $75/student. However, we may accommodate smaller class sizes at an increased rate per student in order to cover overhead.****
